My name is Dan Dixey and I am a direct descendant of Thomas Dixey, that operated the ferry from Marblehead to Salem, beginning in 1644. My roots are firmly planted in Marblehead and I have sea water in my veins. My research of Marblehead began many years ago as I was tracing my family tree. Not only did I discover much about my family but also learned the history of my hometown, as it related to my family living here. The side benefit of my research was the gathering and collecting of Marblehead memorabilia and photographs. My collection now consists of over three thousand images, including stereoviews, postcards, glass negatives, books, pamphlets, slides, photographs and many other items of interest.
